	Remote Starfleet communications station near the Klingon border. Most of the operations of the station were automated, although a two-person crew provided for non-routine operations and maintenance. A network of such stations throughout Federation space permits interstellar communication between distant points with much shorter time lags than unboosted subspace radio transmissions would require. Lt. Aquiel Uhnari, assigned to RS 47 in 2369, was investigated for the murder of her crew mate, Keith Rocha, but was exonerated. TNG Aquiel. Name from dialogue.

Communications station used to amplify and retransmit subspace messages. RS 194 was off-line for maintenance for several hours in early 2369, and RS 47 accepted the additional comm traffic for that period. TNG Aquiel.
