When future Voyager captain Kathryn Janeway had
just earned the rank of commander early in her career, she served aboard
the Starship Billings. Future Voyager security chief Tuvok also served on
the Billings during that time. During her first year aboard, Janeway sent
an away team to survey a volcanic moon. The shuttle was damaged by a magma
eruption, and three crew members were severely injured. Janeway felt
responsible for the incident, and the next day, she retuned to the moon
alone to complete the survey. She wanted the crew to know that their
suffering had not been in vain. VOY Night.
Named after the city of Billings,
    Montana.

    U.S.S. Bozeman NCC-1941 |

     Soyuz-class |

      |

    |   |

     The Bozeman, under the
command of Captain Morgan Bateson, was three weeks out of its home starbase when it disappeared near the Typhon Expanse in 2278. During those
90 years, the Bozeman's crew experienced the passage of only a brief
period of time. Unknown to them, they were in a recursive temporal
causality loop, so they experienced that same brief period over and over,
ad infinitum, until the loop was disrupted by the Enterprise-D, with which
it nearly collided. The Bozeman was subsequently recertified for Starfleet
service. TNG Cause and Effect. In 2370, during the anti-time occurrence created by Q, Admiral Nakamura
deployed the Bozeman, along with 15 other starships, to the Romulan
Neutral Zone to investigate a Romulan military build-up on their side of the
zone. TNG All Good Things.... The Bozeman was required to make a
minor course correction in 2371 after the Amargosa star's destruction
altered gravitational forces in an entire sector. Star Trek: Generations. In
2373, the Bozeman was part of the Starfleet armada that intercepted a Borg
ship at Earth. Star Trek: First Contact.
Named after the city of Bozeman in
Montana, site of first contact between Humans and Vulcans.
The registry number was an homage to Steven
Spielberg's movie "1941", for which Star Trek model maker Greg Jein provided
miniatures. According to rumours, the registry number NCC-1841 was painted on
the ventral saucer. Unfortunately even DVD screencaptures are inconclusive
    on that matter.

missed the transport while assisting with the recovery of Ambassador Troi,
Commander Riker and Counsellor Troi from a Ferengi ship. TNG Ménage

     Miranda-class |

      |

    |   |

     This ship was launched from
the 40 Eridani-A Starfleet Construction Yards on stardate 22519.5. The Brattain,
under the command of Captain Chantal Zaheva, mysteriously disappeared in 2367
and was found trapped in a Tyken's Rift near a binary star system by
Enterprise-D personnel. All but one of the Brattain crew were discovered
dead, apparently having brutally killed each other. Autopsies conducted
by Dr. Beverly Crusher revealed unusual chemical imbalances in their
brains, apparently due to severe REM sleep deprivation, believed to be the
cause of the bizarre violence. The REM sleep loss was found to be a side
effect of an attempt by an alien ship to communicate from the Tyken's Rift.
The alien intelligence had apparently been trying to enlist the Brattain
crew to help both ships escape the rift. TNG Night Terrors.
    Named after American scientist
Walter Houser Brattain (1902-1987), who won the Nobel
Prize for Physics in 1956 for the development of the transistor.
The ship's name on the model was spelt
"Brittain" by mistake. The name "Brattain"
    appeared on the MSD,

    dedication plaque,
    bridge labels and in the
captain's log. The model was a re-use of the U.S.S. Reliant
from Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan.

f Both Worlds, Part 2. The wreckage of the ship was relegated to the
Starfleet surplus depot in orbit around planet Qualor II. TNG Unification,
