|
This Federation starship was
commanded by Captain Conklin. During the Magellan's stay
at the Arkaria Base, the ship's crew put on a talent show
there. Captain Conklin did a poetry reading. TNG Starship Mine.
In 2374, the Magellan participated in the daring and costly mission to
retake station DS9 from Dominion control, preventing a massive incursion of
Dominion ships into the Alpha Quadrant. The Magellan was supposed to protect
the Defiant's starboard flank.
DS9 Sacrifice of Angels. Named after Portuguese
explorer Ferdinand Magellan (1480-1521), who led the first circumnavigation
of planet Earth.

On stardate 50485.2, the Malinche,
under the command of Captain Sanders, patrolled the
Demilitarized Zone near the Gamma 7 outpost. It towed the Defiant to DS9
after the ship had been disabled by a Maquis cascade virus. The Malinche was
later assigned to apprehend Maquis leader and former Starfleet officer Michael
Eddington. When the Malinche caught up with Eddington, Sander's ship was
disabled by a focused particle beam rigged onto a Cardassian freighter
decoy. DS9 For the Uniform. Named after 16th-century
Mexican princess Malinche, who was originally a slave given as a peace offering to the
Spanish conquistadors by the Tabascan Indians. Name from

The Melbourne was stationed at Starbase 47 in
2364 when the Bynars hijacked the Enterprise-D, but was unable to give
chase because of maintenance in progress. TNG 11001001. Cmdr. William Riker was offered
command of the Melbourne in late 2366, but he declined the promotion,
preferring to remain executive officer on the Enterprise-D.
TNG The Best of Both Worlds, Part 1. Shortly
thereafter, the Melbourne was one of the 39 Federation starships destroyed by
the Borg during the Battle of Wolf 359. TNG The Best of Both Worlds,
Part 2. DS9 Emissary. The
wreckage of the ship was relegated to a surplus
depot in orbit around planet Qualor II. TNG Unification,

honour of the vessel that became the noted iron-clad warship C.S.S. Virginia,
that fought for the Confederacy in the American Civil War.

Manual, the Merrimac is a Bonhomme Richard-class vessel. |
