In 2293, the Oberth was on a deep space exploration mission. Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country. Oberth-class vessels have at
least 12 decks. TNG Hero Worship. Named after German
scientist Hermann Oberth (1894-1989), who is considered to
be one of the founders of modern astronautics.
The Oberth-class was designed by David Carson and built at ILM.
The first mention
of the Oberth-class was on the Tsiolkovsky's
dedication plaque in the TNG
episode "The Naked Now". According to Bjo Trimble's Concordance,
the Oberth's registry number is NCC-602. |

In 2370, the Odyssey,
under the command of Captain Keogh, was dispatched to the
Gamma Quadrant to investigate threats to Federation citizens made by the
Jem'Hadar. The ship encountered three Jem'Hadar ships shortly after its
arrival in the Gamma Quadrant. The Odyssey was destroyed while retreating
from the altercation. DS9 The Jem'Hadar. Named after the command
module of Apollo 13.
The ship's dedication plaque bore the quote ""Its origin and purpose, still a
total mystery".

The Okinawa was once commanded by the future
Vice Admiral Leyton. Benjamin Sisko served as Executive Officer under
Leyton. DS9 Homefront. Benjamin Sisko fought in the Tzenkethi war alongside Leyton while
aboard the Okinawa. DS9 Paradise Lost. Named after the islands in the
South China Sea that were the scene of heavy fighting near the end of
Earth's second world war.

The ST Encyclopedia speculates that the Okinawa is an Excelsior-class vessel
with the registry number NCC-13958. |

U.S.S. Olympia |

The Olympia,
under the command of Captain Lisa Cusak, conducted an eight-year mission of
deep space exploration in the Beta Quadrant from 2363 through 2371. En
route back to Federation Space, the ship investigated a planet in the Rutharian sector. The Olympia was crippled when its active sensor scans
triggered a powerful quantum reaction in an exogenic energy field
surrounding the planet, causing a surge of metreon radiation. The ship
subsequently exploded with the eventual loss of all hands. DS9 The Sound
of Her Voice. Named after the region in
western Peloponnesus on Earth.

DS9 The Siege. The Orinoco was destroyed in 2372 when a Cardassian separatist group calling themselves
"The True Way" sabotaged the
runabout's warp core. DS9 Our Man Bashir. Named after the
1700-mile-long river in Venezuela. Name from
