  U.S.S. Galaxy NCC-70637

Galaxy-class

 
  Prototype of the Galaxy-class. The Galaxy, and four other ships of its class, fought in the combined fleet of allied Alpha Quadrant forces that invaded Cardassian space at the Chin'toka-System in late 2374. The Galaxy was seriously damaged by orbital weapon platforms employed by the Dominion. DS9 Tears of the Prophets. In 2379, the Galaxy was part of battle group Omega. The battle group was ordered to convene in Sector 1045 to stop the Reman warbird Scimitar. Star Trek: Nemesis.

The Galaxy-class was designed by Andrew Probert. The Galaxy-class was first mentioned and seen in the TNG episode "Encounter at Farpoint". Name and NCC from a computer display. Class visually identified.

 

 

  U.S.S. Gallico    
  The Gallico, under the command of Capt. J. Priestly, visited Starbase 58 in 2370. Her next stay was at station Deep Space 9 on stardate 47554.5. DS9 Whispers.

  DS9 Penumbra.

Named after a river in Newfoundland, Canada. This runabout was originally called "Ganges" in the script, but the name was changed after they realized that the Ganges was destroyed in Season 2. Name from dialogue. Class visually identified.

 

 

  U.S.S. Gandhi    
  Lt. Thomas Riker with some assistance of Captain Picard, was assigned to the Gandhi in 2369 after his rescue from planet Nervala IV. He transferred to the ship just prior to its departure for a terraforming mission in the Lagana sector. TNG Second Chances. Riker was serving aboard the Gandhi when he began to express pro-Maquis sentiments. By 2371 Thomas Riker deserted his post aboard the Gandhi to become a member of the Maquis. DS9 Defiant.

Named after Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi (1869-1948), leader of the Indian nationalist movement, an influential philosopher who advocated non-violent confrontation and civil disobedience as a means of fostering political change on Earth. Name from dialogue. The ST Encyclopedia speculates that the Gandhi is an Ambassador-class vessel with the registry number NCC-26632.

 

 

  U.S.S. Ganges

Named after the river in northern India and eastern Pakistan that flows 1560 miles from the Himalayas to the Bay of Bengal. Name from dialogue. Class visually identified. The ST Encyclopedia speculates that the Ganges's registry number is NCC-72454.

  Formerly commanded by Captain Mark Jameson prior to his promotion to admiral. The Gettysburg was the last ship Jameson commanded. TNG Too Short a Season. In early 2375, the Gettysburg docked at station DS9 for maintenance. DS9 Treachery, Faith and the Great River.

Name from dialogue. The ST Encyclopedia speculates that the Gettysburg is a Constellation-class vessel with the registry number NCC-3890.

  The G'mat, under the command of Capt. W. Bligh, visited System C-111 in 2370. Her next stay was at station Deep Space 9 on stardate 47560.5. DS9 Whispers.

  U.S.S. Goddard NCC-59621

Korolev-class

 
  In 2366, a rendezvous between the Goddard and the Enterprise-D was postponed because the Enterprise-D was ordered to deliver medical supplies to the Alpha Leonis system. TNG The Vengeance Factor. In 2368, the Goddard served as part of the tachyon detection grid to blockade Romulan ships supplying the Duras family forces in the Klingon civil war. TNG Redemption, Part 2.

Named after American rocket scientist Robert H. Goddard (1882-1945), inventor of the liquid-fuelled rocket. Name from dialogue. NCC and class from a computer display (Captain's Chair).

 

 

  U.S.S. Gorkon

Excelsior-class

 
  The Gorkon was Vice Admiral Nechayev's flagship during the expected Borg invasion of 2369. TNG Descent, Part 1.

Named after the assassinated Klingon Chancellor Gorkon. Name from dialogue. Class visually identified. The ST Encyclopedia speculates that the Gorkon's registry number is NCC-40521.

 

 

  U.S.S. Grissom NCC-638

Oberth-class

 
  The Grissom, under the command of Captain J. T. Esteban, was assigned to investigate the newly formed Genesis Planet in 2285, but was destroyed by a Klingon vessel attempting to claim the planet for the Klingon Empire. The investigation team included Lt. JG Saavik and Dr. David Marcus. Star Trek III: The Search for Spock. Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home.

Named after Mercury astronaut Virgil I. Grissom (1926-1967), who was killed in the tragic Apollo 1 fire in 1967. The Grissom model was relabelled and re-used as a variety of other Federation starships in TNG. Name from dialogue. NCC from a screenshot. Class visually identified.

 

 

  U.S.S. Grissom    
  The Grissom was near the Sigma Erandi system during the tricyanate contamination on Beta Agni II in 2366. The Enterprise-D requested the Grissom to stand by should assistance be needed. TNG The Most Toys. In 2375, the Grissom was destroyed by Dominion forces in the Battle of Ricktor Prime. Lt. Chu'lak served aboad the Grissom and he was one of six survivors out of a crew of 1250. DS9 Field of Fire.
